Anil Agarwal to India Today Editor Prabhu Chawla: I will give 75 percent of my wealth to charity.

September 23rd, 2010

Following is an excerpt from an interview in yahoo News.

What is your mission?

I will give 75 per cent of my wealth to charity. I enjoy big businesses. Our companies own aircraft because they need it. But I am happy living in a three-bedroom flat. We have brought $20 billion into India which is unheard of. Why is nobody speaking of that?

I think regardless of what happens to his other business in Odisha, if we let him build Vedanta University, he will build it.

By Vedanta Univ – Puri local people benefit – Vedanta happens, PURI will establish a brand name in the world-map….. Without a brand of PURI, Puri is not going anywhere with all her potential…. The temple of Jagannath does not even allow non-Hindus, which is not good, and is the single large large distraction for Tourism… Vedanta Univ will indirectly create lot of local business to benefit local people, and will save PURI…Wake up Puri….

I first congratulate to mr anil aggrawal who has given a statement he will give 75% of his total wealth to a chairty in a exclusive interview. i am from grass root level & we become very happy if vedanta university will build. but what is the price you has given per acor it was very less. if we focus on the small potential cities in india especially like bhubaneswar & puri we can realize it was too less. but undoubtedly puri need like a vedanta university.

Good to hear from grassroots people in Puri. The chances of Vedanta University happening is low now. But there is still some chance. You may check out the facebook page for more information about support to Vedanta University from people of Odisha.
