Rourkela a deserving place. But what about creation of Baleshwar zone out of South-Eastern railways and getting it included within East Coast railways? A long pending demand by Odisha.

Creation of Berhampur Railway Division under East Coast Zone has been long overdue and the issue has been raised several times in the Parliament and in 2008 former Railway Minister R Velu told the Parliament in response to a question from Mr Jay Panda that the Division would be created subject to feasibility. Now with the Naupada-Gunupur line functional and likely to be extended upto Therubali a new Division at Berhampur is all the more important. The proposed Berhampur Division will extend from Balugaon to Srikakulam and from Naupada to Gunupur. State Govt should take active steps for getting new railway divisions at Berhampur, Rourkela and Balasore for overhaul of railway setup.
