Intercity was defined as: &quot;express trains that start in the morning for a  destination and return by the evening and are catering to comman man,  so we should exclude Shatabdis.&quot; Such trains from\/to Bhubaneswar\/Puri are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2073\/2074 BBS-Howrah Jan-Shatabdi Express<\/li>\n<li>2821\/2822 BBS-Howrah Dhauli Express (to be extended to Puri)<\/li>\n<li>8303\/8304 Puri-Sambalpur Express (<u>Should be extended to Belpahar<\/u>)<\/li>\n<li>2893\/2894 BBS-Balangir Express (<u>Should be extended further than Balangir<\/u>)<\/li>\n<li>2891\/2892 BBS-Baripada Express<\/li>\n<li>8415\/8416 Puri-Kendujhargarh Express (to be extended to Barbil)<\/li>\n<li>8413\/8414 BBS-Paradeep Express (to be extended to Puri)<\/li>\n<li>8411\/8412 BBS-Visakhapatnam Express<\/li>\n<li>8105\/8106 BBS-Rourkela Express (New. Not operational yet.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I think within a year there will be a new Intercity connecting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bhubaneswar to Parlakhemundi. This will then get extended to Gunupur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following extensions should also happen in a couple of years:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BBS-Balangir to Bhawanipatna and then to Junagarh.<\/li>\n<li>BBS-Baripada to Bangiriposi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I think the following two day time trains (not strictly inter-cities) make sense and should be pursued:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bhubaneswar-Koraput (679 kms, will need two rakes)<\/li>\n<li>Bhubaneswar-Raipur (via Titlagarh, 687 kms, will need two rakes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, if the <u>BBS-Rourkela intercity works well then another such intercity with reverse timings<\/u> need to be introduced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A discussion in IRFCA piqued my interest to find the Intercity trains from Bhubaneswar\/Puri.
