Since the above article pokes holes on Bhubaneswar&#8217;s claims for international designation and explicitly mentions Vizag, hence my following attemp to compare the two in terms of <u>daily non-stop flight connectivity<\/u>. I used <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cleartrip.com\">http:\/\/www.cleartrip.com<\/a> and used the dates of 18th and 26th Novmeber. (This is an initial attempt. It is clear that the center wants 815 acres land and the state is offering only 734 acres.<\/p>\n<p>Why is not the state giving the amount of land the center is asking for? Is there some genuine reason behind it? I don&#8217;t know. Perhaps someone who knows can help.<\/p>\n<p>Also is the amount of land that the center is asking an absolute must? Are there other operational airports with less land? (I don&#8217;t know.) Ofcourse more land would mean a bigger airport. But is not it possible to use the land the state is giving to make the airport and then pursue the additional land for future expansion.<\/p>\n<hr width=\"100%\" size=\"2\" \/>\n<p>Update: Just did some search and found that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lok_Nayak_Jayaprakash_Airport\" target=\"_self\">Patna airport<\/a> covers an area of only 254 acres.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheapairticketsindia.com\/airports-india\/varanasi-airport.html\" target=\"_self\">Varanasi airport<\/a> covers an area of 582.5 acres.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.airport-technology.com\/projects\/trivandrum-int\/\" target=\"_self\">Trivandrum airport<\/a> is a 583 acres campus.<\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/hindu.com\/2010\/01\/18\/stories\/2010011854930300.htm\">Tirupati airport<\/a>: Currently at 293 acres and will grow to 690 acres.<\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/assam\/tourism\/airport.html\">Dibrugarh airport<\/a>: 253.96 acres.<\/li>\n<li>Jaipur airport: <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flonnet.com\/fl2705\/stories\/20100312270510700.htm\">716 acres<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Tiruchi airport: <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flonnet.com\/fl2705\/stories\/20100312270510700.htm\">702 acres<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Jammu airport: <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/ekikrat.in\/Jammu-Airport\">88.7 acres<\/a>. (??)<\/li>\n<li>Srinagar airport: <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/ekikrat.in\/Srinagar-Airport\">52.6 acres<\/a>. (??)<\/li>\n<li>Ranchi airport: <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/ekikrat.in\/Ranchi-Airport\">526 acres<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outside India there are some very busy airports that have around 700 acres of land. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.citidex.com\/20.htm\" target=\"_self\">La Guardia Airport in New York<\/a> is 650 acres. (It is next to a river through.)\n<ul>\n<li>In 2008,  <a target=\"_self\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/LaGuardia_Airport\">176,373 flights departed LaGuardia<\/a>. That makes it an average of 483 flights a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.metwashairports.com\/reagan\/1275.htm\" target=\"_self\">Reagan National Airport in Washington DC<\/a> is 733 acres.
