Sampalpur-Angul-Howrah Special: Should it be made a regular train?
Angul, Anugul- Talcher - Saranga- Nalconagar, Balasore- Chandipur, Bhadrakh-Sarla Rd...Vizag, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur Rd- Vyasanagar- Duburi- Kalinganagar, KGP...Lakshannath Rd - Bhadrakh, Rajathagara - Nergundi, Sambalpur, Sambalpur - Talcher, Sambaplur- Burla- Bargarh- Chipilima September 16th. 2009, 11:25amUpdate: Biswarup Basu in an IRFCA posting pointed out that based on the current schedule this train is competitive with the 8005/06 Koraput-Howrah Express; 1 hr 5 minutes faster towards Howrah and 15 minutes slower in the other direction. So many may not mind traveling end-to-end on this train. He thinks there is enough traffic to introduce a daily train in this route.
East Coast Railway is running eight pairs of a special train between Sambalpur and Howrah via Angul. Following is its schedule.
From end-to-end connectivity point of view the path taken by this train is longer than the regular Sambalpur-Rourkela-HWH path.
- SBP – Howrah : 563 kms
- SBP – Kapilas Rd (273-15 = 258) + Kapilas Rd – HWH 396 = 654 kms
However, this train would give a direct connection between Howrah and places like Angul, Talcher and Dhenkanal. A train in this route with different times and more stops could also provide direct and useful connection between Sambalpur/Redhakhol/Angul/Talcher/Dhenkanal and Jajpur Rd/Bhadrakh/Balasore. Perhaps ECOR is exploring a regular train in this route.

This is a very good option for the people of central odisha(Dhenkanal,Angul) since they are travelling regularly to Kolkata for their businesses. ECR should pressurise to intoduce this train as regular one from the next rail budget.

though i stay at dhenkanal and after come to know about this train i feel very happy and our sorrounding people also feeling easy.
though many steel company is coming in angul district and people are going to cuttack or sambalpur to catch train so it is very much relaxable to them.
pl. continue it onregular basis.

we will feel very relax if this train will continue. the people stay at angul they have to suffer very long to catac train for howrah.
after come to know all people there will be very rush and try to put on regular basis.

Yes,indeed a good option.In the same time we must demand for BBSR-New Delhi Rajdhani exp. should run in this rout twice a weeek thru angul,Sambalpur and rourkela.

Such train should be regualr as traffic is increasing in this route.

Its a great initiative by ECoR. It serve as a direct connectivity betweencentral part (Anugul,Dhenkanal) which is emerging a an important industrial zone with calcutta and northern Orissa (Balasore, Bhadrakh). It is also a direct connection between balasore,bhadrakh with sambalpur.It will provide a great relief to passengers who have to rely on limited os of buses to sambalpur. Since both balasore and sambalpur are important towns of orissa there should be direct railway communication between them. this should be made regular train.If possible railway should modify the timing to day and evening time so that most of the people can use this train and know it.

My friend and myself very happy to go by this train for kolkata.
Everyone is saying that it is very convenient for all.
If possible change schedule of this and made twice/thrice in a week.

Seeing furture growth of Angul, it is good step taken by railway dept. to provide train facility for howrah. if possible give direct train for other state also i.e. bihar, jharkhand, chhatisgarh and capital also because in coming furture many big company planned to set up there plant in odisha and from there Angul station will be very nearer than to go for cuttack and bhubaneswar. many many thanks to railway dept. from me and my all friends.

As Angul is a fully developed industrial area, it should need a direct communication to hwh.Students also wl b benefited by this action.So kindly consider the case nd make it a regular one.

As many steel plant are going to operational i,e. Bhushan & Jindal and many more steel plant & power plant are in pipe line, Angul needs the best rail connectivity to at least New Delhi & Mumbai. The Rajdhani must run through this route BBSR-Sambalpur-Bilaspur-Katni route resulting a 19-2o hrs to NewDelhi. Similarly an daily superfast train connecting Bhubaneswar to Mumbai to be run through Angul will make 25-26 hrs to Mumbai. With this the people working in this industrial capital of Orissa will greatly benefit.

this is the train of preference to connect west orissa central orissa to the major city like balasore,bhadrak and baripada
if one train ll run in between baripada to balangir through this route than it ll be much more better

recently (today is 06/06/2012) this train has been diverted but plying on scheduled date. by that no intermediate station between sambalpur and kharagpur are served. railway is also loosing its revenue as passengers from angul, dhenkanal, etc heavy trafficked area are not available in passenger list. train is to be reinstated immediately.

We Request to ECoR for making it regular daily train and it helps to reach Howrah easily to many people of Sambalpur, Angul, Talcher and Dhenkanal.
